Sodra Cell's Folla Pulp Mill Halts Production on Lack of Chips

Feb. 24, 2010 - Pulp production at Sodra Cell's Folla Mill in Norway has come to a halt temporarily due to a lack of wood chips, according to European news provider EUWID.

EUWID said a spokesperson for Sodra confirmed that output at the mill had to be stopped because it is difficult to provide enough wood chips.

Extreme weather conditions and snow made timber harvesting difficult this winter, the spokesperson said, in addition there were other sourcing problems.

The spokesperson did not say how long production might be down.

Sodra Cell Folla Mill produces chemi-thermomechanical pulp (CTMP) sold on the open market. The mill has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons.
