Sodra To Hike Price for Softwood Pulp Grades

Feb. 19, 2010 - Sodra said that it will increase the price for its softwood pulp grades by US$30 per ton, effective March 1.

Sodra's latest hike, the third $30 bump since mid-December 2009 when the price was US$800, will move the selling price to US$890/ton.

Sodra's president, Ulf Edman, said the pulp market remains solid with increased demand and low stocks.

Sodra is the world's third largest supplier of market pulp. The company operates five pulp mills — three in Sweden and two in Norway — with a total capacity of 2.1 million tons per year, of which just over 100,000 tons is mechanical pulp (CTMP) and the rest bleached sulphate pulp.

Sodra's entire pulp production is sold on the open market.
