Arkema/Coatex Acquires Dow Acrylic Acid Plant

Feb. 11, 2010 - Omya, the exclusive worldwide representative for Coatex thickeners and dispersants for the paper industry, is pleased to announce the Arkema/Coatex acquisition of Dow's Clear Lake, Texas acrylic acid plant has been completed, positioning Arkema as North America's second largest producer of Acrylic acid.

“This acquisition fits very well into the overall strategy of Omya as the world's leading solutions provider to the paper industry and Coatex as one of the world's leading producers of rheological additives for aqueous formulations. It will allow us to better serve the paper industry with acrylic acid-based products such as dispersants and thickeners”, says Bob Hurst of Omya North America.
