Smurfit-Stone Promotes Matt Denton to Sr. VP Post

Feb. 9, 2010 - Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. said that Matt Denton has been promoted to senior vice president of business planning and analysis.

Denton joined Smurfit-Stone in 2006 as vice president of business transformation.

Prior to joining Smurfit-Stone, Denton worked for Georgia-Pacific from 1992 to 2006, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president of strategic sourcing for G-Pís North American consumer products and bleached pulp and paper operations, and vice president of finance for the companyís containerboard and packaging segment and pulp division.

Denton earned his bachelorís degree in accounting from Rutgers University. He received his CPA license in 1991, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New Jersey Society of CPAs.
