Jim Tyrone Joins Appleton as Senior Vice President
Feb. 1, 2010 - Appleton said that Jim Tyrone has joined the company as senior vice president and will be responsible for Appletonís thermal paper business unit and have
oversight of the companyís paper manufacturing operations.
Appleton also announced that Sarah Macdonald will serve as vice president of the carbonless business unit which includes responsibility for carbonless and security papers. She has been serving as Appletonís vice president of global sales and general manager of international.
Tyrone most recently served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for NewPage Corporation. He served in the
same capacity with MeadWestvaco prior to its spinoff of NewPage.
Tyroneís career in the paper industry began with Mead Corp., where he served as vice president and
general manager of the carbonless paper business unit; president of the fine paper division; and vice
president of Meadís paper division (all coated, carbonless and uncoated paper products).
Tyrone earned a masterís degree in business administration from Harvard University and a bachelorís
degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia.
Appleton produces carbonless, thermal, security and performance packaging products. The employee-owned company is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin and has manufacturing
operations in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. It employs approximately 2,200 people.
