Jim Tyrone Joins Appleton as Senior Vice President

Feb. 1, 2010 - Appleton said that Jim Tyrone has joined the company as senior vice president and will be responsible for Appleton’s thermal paper business unit and have oversight of the company’s paper manufacturing operations.

Appleton also announced that Sarah Macdonald will serve as vice president of the carbonless business unit which includes responsibility for carbonless and security papers. She has been serving as Appleton’s vice president of global sales and general manager of international.

Tyrone most recently served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for NewPage Corporation. He served in the same capacity with MeadWestvaco prior to its spinoff of NewPage.

Tyrone’s career in the paper industry began with Mead Corp., where he served as vice president and general manager of the carbonless paper business unit; president of the fine paper division; and vice president of Mead’s paper division (all coated, carbonless and uncoated paper products).

Tyrone earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia.
