SFK Gets Saint-Felicien Pulp Mill Started Up Ahead of Schedule

Dec. 18, 2009 - SFK Pulp Fund said that it is starting up the Saint-Felicien pulp mill today — four days ahead of the original restart date.

During a semi-annual maintenance downtime period there was an unexpected breakdown of the mill recovery boiler, and SFK previously said it would extend production downtime until Dec. 22 while it made repairs to the boiler.

However, SFK said that the repair work has been completed ahead of schedule "thanks to the work of our Saint-Felicien teams and the cooperation of our key suppliers" and the mill only reduced its fourth quarter production of NBSK pulp by 6,000 tonnes instead of the previously announced 10,000 tonnes due to these additional repairs.
