Paperchine Supplies Two Headboxes to Luke, MD Mill

Dec. 7, 2009 - Paperchine said that it has supplied Luke Paper Company (a subsidiary of NewPage) with two StableFLO™ headboxes for its L-8 and L-9 paper machines at the Luke, Maryland paper mill.

According to Paperchine, the StableFLO system was custom designed for the mill to limit cross-machine variability and improve other sheet properties.

Installation of the headbox on L-8 paper machine was completed in late October 2009.

The headbox for the L-9 machine is scheduled to be installed in the first half of 2010.

The Luke operation has one kraft pulp mill and two paper machines, and has an annual capacity to produce 520,000 tons per year of paper and approximately 411,000 tons per year of hardwood and softwood pulp.

Based in Rockton, Illinois, Paperchine provides enginnering, equipment manufacturing and replacement parts, paper machine rebuilds, and mechanical/technical services to the paper industry. The company also has an operation in Coquitlam, British Columbia — Paperchine Canada.
