Ilim Group Reports Pulp, Paper Board Figures
Oct. 27, 2009 - Russian pulp and paper maker Ilim Group said that in the first nine months of 2009 the company manufactured 1,732,000 tons of pulp and paper products. This figure is 13% less than in the corresponding period of 2008.
Market pulp production totaled 1,067,000 tons, 9% less than in the first nine months of 2008. The decrease was due to the closure of older, inefficient production lines in Koryazhma at the start of 2009.
Board production increased by 8%, or 495,000 tons, Jan. - Sept. 2009 compared to the same period in 2008, Ilim said.
Paper production totaled 152,000 tons, or 21% less than the corresponding period in 2008
Ilim noted that pulp and paper products manufacturing volumes were adjusted due to implementation of the anti-recession action plan aimed to ensure uninterrupted operation of mills, the manufacturing of products in demand by the market, and secure overall financial stability of the company.
