Minerals Technologies to Expand PCC Plant in Bazil

Oct. 22, 2009 - Minerals Technologies today said that it will expand its satellite precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) plant at a paper mill owned by Suzano Papel ť Celulose, S.A. in Suzano, Brazil.

The PCC facility, which was originally constructed in 1996, is operated by Minerals Technologies do Brasil Comercia ť Industria de Minerais Ltda.

The satellite PCC plant that produces filler material for Suzanoís uncoated freesheet paper, will increase from a two-unit facility to three units, with a unit equivalent to 25,000 to 35,000 tons of PCC produced annually, Minerals Technologies said.

Minerals Technologies also provides PCC to Suzano Papel ť Cellulose, S.A. from its satellite plant at the papermakerís mill at Mucuri, Brazil.

PCC is a specialty pigment for filling and coating high-quality paper.
