AbitibiBowater to Restart #6 PM at Fort Frances
Aug. 27, 2009 - AbitibiBowater is planning to restart the # 6 paper machine in Fort Frances, Ontario for 3 weeks of orders, according to the Canadian forest blog Forest Talk.
The restart will begin on September 8, Forest Talk reported.
If more orders are received, the machine may run longer than 3 weeks, Forest Talk added.
Paper machine # 6 has been down since early-March — except for one week in mid-July to run some grade trials. At that time and in reference to the machine trials, mill manager John Harrison said, "We’re conducting a few trials at # 6 [during week of July 8] just to prove out machine capabilities beyond what we’ve been producing on the machine in the past, which is SCA or glossy paper.”
The news sources did not report what grades # 6 would be running to fill orders during the three-week period.
