NewPage Sells Hydroelectric Plant in Wisconsin

March 25, 2009 - NewPage Corp said that it has completed the sale of its Little Quinnesec hydroelectric facility in Niagara, Wisconsin to Northbrook Wisconsin, LLC.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The facility has the capacity to generate approximately 9.1 megawatts annually, NewPage said.

Northbrook Wisconsin, LLC is an affiliate of United States Power Fund III, L.P., a private equity fund managed by Energy Investors Funds, and Northbrook Energy, LLC.

Headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio, NewPage is the largest coated paper manufacturer in North America, based on production capacity. The company owns paper mills in Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nova Scotia, Canada. These mills have a total annual production capacity of approximately 4.4 million tons of paper, including approximately 3.2 million tons of coated paper, approximately 1.0 million tons of uncoated paper and approximately 200,000 tons of specialty paper.
