White Birch Paper Plans Newsprint Downtime in Quebec

March 13, 20009 - White Birch Paper Company announced today that it will take market related downtime at its Stadacona L.P. Division in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

The planned shutdown will take place from March 20 through April 6 and result in approximately 30,000 metric tons of reduced newsprint production, White Birch said.

White Birch Paper Company is the second largest newsprint manufacturer in North America, with approximately 1.25 million metric tons of uncoated groundwood production capacity. In addition to newsprint, White Birch produces uncoated specialty paper, directory paper and paperboard at its mills located in Quebec City, Riviere-du-Loup and Gatineau, Quebec and Ashland, Virginia.
