Explosion Damages Pipeline at Fray Bentos Pulp Mill
March 5, 2009 - Botnia reported that on Feb. 28 there was an explosion at its one million ton per year eucalyptus pulp mill in Fray Bentos, Western Uruguay.
The explosion occurred in a transfer line that carries gaseous emissions. At the time, the mill was being re-started after a maintenance shutdown.
The company said the pipeline was damaged and the start-up of the mill was delayed for a few days.
No one was injured nor was there any impact to the environment, Botnia said.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated.
