Albany International to Close Dryer Fabric Plant in Finland

Jan. 16, 2009 - Albany International today said it plans to discontinue operations at its dryer fabric manufacturing facility in Konala, Finland.

The Albany, New York-based paper machine clothing producer said the decision was necessary in an on-going efort to match production capacity to the global demand for paper machine clothing, which has been affected by the global paper industry's capacity reductions.

The plant's closure will affect up to 133 employees..

Albany said dryer fabric sourcing will continue to be available from its other manufacturing operations in Germany, China, France, and Mexico.
