Cascades Invests $5 Million in Kingsey Falls Mill
Jan. 13, 2009 - Cascades Inc. said that it is investing $5 million in its Kingsey Falls linerboard mill located in Quebec, Canada.
The Kingsey Falls mill operates within Cascades' Norampac division.
The upgrade project includes an expansion of the building to replace the winder as well as create additional space for future upgrades to the mill.
Currently, the Kingsey Falls mill has an annual production capacity of about 90,000 tons. Upon completion of the first phase of the project—two additional phases are expected to take place in 2010 and 2011—production capacity at the plant will exceed 125,000 tons per year, Cascades said.
According to Cascades, in 2008, the company invested more than $12 million in the seven production units in Kingsey Falls alone. In Quebec, Cascades invested over $50 million last year and approximately $175 million was allocated for fixed capital costs for the entire organization world-wide.
In 2009, depending on the status of the global economic situation and its financial performance, Cascades said it intends to invest approximately $100 million in capital costs.
