International Paper to Rebuild Boiler at Prattville

Jan. 8, 2009 - International Paper has plans to spend $40 million to rebuild one of the recovery boilers at the company's kraft paper mill in Prattville, Alabama.

The work should begin in mid-April and last about 35 days, said Helen Hawkins, communications manager for the mill.

According to a news story in the Montgomery Advisor, Mayor Jim Byard Jr. said the success of the mill is vital to Prattville's economic future. And the new project shows the importance of the Prattville mill in IP's plans for the future, he added.

"It further signifies the efficiency and work ethic of the local employees that over the years have ensured the successful operation of the Prattville mill," Byard said.
