Andrtiz to Rebuild Board Machine in Turkey

Oct. 23, 2008 - Andritz said that it has received an order from Kartonsan Karton, Izmit, Turkey to rebuild their board machine (BM1). The machine produces White-Lined Chipboard (WLC) ranging between 200 and 450 gsm. It has a working width of 2,200 mm and will have a maximum design speed of 250 m/min after the upgrade.

The scope of the order includes a new suction former with CD profile dilution control, upgrading the eight existing suction formers, a new PrimePress X shoe press, a rebuild of the dryer section, and a new rope tail threading system.

The target of the upgrade is to increase capacity from 50,000 to 75,000 tons per year and to improve the board quality, Andritz said.

In addition, the project includes an upgrade capacity increase of the mixed wastepaper stock preparation line from 70 to 150 tons per day, as well as rebuilding the approach flow and under-machine pulper broke system.

Start-up and commissioning are planned for the third quarter of 2009.
