IMERYS to Close GCC Plant in Salisbury, UK
Oct. 13, 2008 - IMERYS Pigments for Paper said that it plans to close its ground calcium carbonate (GCC) facility in Salisbury, UK by early 2009.
IMERYS said the significant decrease in paper production capacity within the UK, combined with a slow down in the economy, has led to a decline in overall demand for its product.
Escalating production costs also played a factor in its decision to close the plant, IMERYS said.
IMERYS will begin discussions with any customers currently supplied from this facility to assist in the transition to alternative products or sources of supply.
