UPM to Keep PM 2 in Germany Down Thru Year-end
Aug. 21, 2008 - UPM said that it has decided to continue the temporary shutdown of PM 2 at its Nordland Papier fine paper mill in Germany.
The shutdown will continue until the end of the year, UPM said.
The capacity reduction is the result of weak demand in the fine paper market, as well as the continued overcapacity, UPM noted.
The annual production capacity of PM 2 is 200,000 tonnes of fine paper.
In April 2008, UPM announced temporary shutdowns in its fine paper mills in Central Europe for one to three months to address the poor profitability of certain businesses.
