MeadWestvaco to Close Packaging Plant in Pennsylvania
May 16, 2008 - MeadWestvaco late yesterday said that it will discontinue operations at its packaging plant in Warrington, Pennsylvania and close the facility by late summer of this year.
The closure will impact about 145 employees.
The facility produces visual and paperboard packaging for the personal and beauty care industry.
"The decision to close our Warrington facility is based on careful analysis of our operations and the need to create a more efficient operation that will strengthen our presence in the personal and beauty care packaging market," said Mark S. Cross, senior vice president of MWV Packaging.
MeadWestvaco said some of the plant's production will transfer to the company's other packaging facilities.
