Paper Week General Session to Focus on Sustainability
Feb. 20, 2008 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) said that the Pulp & Paper General Session of the 131st Annual Paper Week will focus on one of the most critical issues facing the forest and paper industry today—sustainability.
AF&PA's Paper Week Convention takes place at the Waldorf=Astoria hotel in New York City, March 30 - April 1.
Creative business leader, author, and advisor Andrew Savitz will address the importance of environmental accountability and reporting in today’s marketplace. He is an expert in stakeholder analysis, mapping, and engagement, as well as an advisor on socially responsible capital expenditures and investment. Mr. Savitz is the author of The Triple Bottom Line – How Today's Best-Run Companies are Achieving Economic, Social, and Environmental Success - and How You Can Too.
A presentation and discussion related to purchasing practices that will help ensure legal and sustainable sources will also be included in the session. James Griffiths, Managing Director at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and Lars Laestedius, Senior Forest Associate at the World Resources Institute, will share their expertise on the subject.
In a time when environmental performance and sustainability have taken on key roles in the buying habits of consumers of forest and paper products, the Pulp & Paper General Session is a forum not to be missed.
The session will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008, at The Waldorf=Astoria Hotel in New York City.
