Inland Empire Paper Co. to Install New TMP System
Feb. 6, 2008 - Inland Empire Paper Company said that it plans to install a new Thermo-Mechanical Pulping (TMP) system at its mill in Millwood, Washington.
The $40+ million project will significantly reduce the company's current dependence on natural gas to dry its paper products, Inland Empire said.
Through a heat recovery system that recovers heat generated during the TMP process, the reduction in natural gas usage will eliminate associated air emissions by more than 75% and significantly reduce the mill's carbon footprint.
“With the significant environmental benefits associated with this project, Inland Empire Paper Company is taking a proactive approach towards the reduction of green house gas emissions,” said Wayne Andresen, president and general manager.“
Metso Paper will supply the new TMP system.
Inland Empire expects the project to be completed in 2009.
