Metso Paper to Acquire AFT's Screw Press Business

Nov. 28, 2007 - Metso Paper and Advanced Fiber Technologies (AFT) have entered into an agreement whereby Metso will purchase AFT's Optimum Screw Press technology and business.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

The Optimum Screw Press technology is used in the field of mechanical pulping and recycled fiber.

The deal will complement Metso Paper's services to pulp and paper producers, especially in the aftermarket business, Metso said.

In addition to all assets and intellectual property, the deal will result in the transfer of three key employees from AFT to Metso Paper in Montreal, Canada.

AFT, owned by the Japanese Aikawa Group, is a global leader in providing pulp screening components and systems.
