Norske Skog to Reduce Newsprint Production in 2007-08
Sept. 13, 2007 - Norske Skog said that it plans to reduce production of newsprint in the second half of 2007 by about 70,000 tons and trim an additional 200,000 tons of production in 2008.
The Norway-based papermaker cited increased inports from Canada as the culprit in a shifting of the market balance in Europe and that the company sees this trend continuing into 2008.
However, demand for newsprint in Europe is stable, Norske Skog said.
