Aug. 28, 2007 - Latin America's Suzano Pulp and Paper said that it has started-up a new pulp manufacturing line at its Mucuri mill in Bahia, Brazil.

Line 2 has a production capacity of 1 million tons of pulp per year, which will increase Suzano's annual pulp making capacity to 1.7 million tons. However, the company said the mill will go through an initial "learning curve" that should be completed by early-2008 after which the new pulp line will come up to its full capacity.

Suzano also produces 1.1 million tpy of coated and uncoated printing and writing papers.
