Palm Paper Orders Newsprint Machine from Voith

Aug. 2, 2007 - Voith Paper said that it will supply a newsprint machine for a new mill to be built by Palm Paper Ltd. in King's Lynn, England.

The new machine, PM 7, is designed to produce 400,000 tons per year of newsprint in the basis weight range of 42 - 48.8 g/m2 using 100% de-inked recycled paper. The machine will have a wire width of 11.4 mm and a trimmed width of 10.6 mm.

PM 7 is designed for a maximum production speed of 2,200 m/min, Voith said.

Palm Paper Limited, a subsidiary of privately-held Palm Group, said it will invest EUR 330 million in the construction of the King's Lynn mill

King's Lynn is about 90 miles north of London.

The Palm Group said land has been purchased and the company is currently in the application process with the local authorities.

The new mill is slated for start-up in the summer of 2009.
