Packaging Corp. of America Earns SFI Certification

June 8, 2007 - Packaging Corp. of America (PCA) said that it has achieved Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification for its primary mills and its network of corrugated combining plants.

"The Sustainable Forestry Initiative and these certifications are important elements in providing environmentally responsible packaging to our customers," commented Paul T. Stecko, PCA's chairman and CEO.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative program is a comprehensive system of principles, objectives, and performance measures developed by professional foresters, conservationists, and scientists, among others, that combine the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the long-term protection of wildlife, plants, soil, and water.

PCA is the sixth largest producer of containerboard and corrugated packaging products in the United States with sales of $2.2 billion in 2006. PCA operates four paper mills and 68 corrugated product plants in 26 states across the country.
