Peter Pope steps down from Pope & Talbot Board
May 11, 2007 = Pope & Talbot, Inc. said that that Peter T. Pope yesterday resigned from the Board of Directors upon reaching a specific age designated by company policy.
Under the company's Corporate Governance Guidelines, it is Pope & Talbot's policy, unless waived under special circumstances, that a member of the Board of Directors retires effective as of the first annual shareholders meeting after the member's 72nd birthday.
Mr. Pope has been a director of the Pope & Talbot since 1962, and was chairman of the Board and CEO from 1971 until his retirement on July 31, 1999.
Following his retirement in 1999, Mr. Pope continued on as chairman of the Board until July 31, 2000.
