MeadWestvaco Makes CSG Management Changes

April, 19, 2007 - MeadWestvaco said that it has made a series of management changes to strengthen its consumer packaging business.

Mark Cross, senior vice president, will assume direct oversight of MeadWestvaco's Consumer Solutions Group (CSG) in addition to his current responsibilities managing the company's emerging markets operations. Steve Scherger, previously vice president of corporate strategy, will assume the role of president, CSG Americas, with additional responsibility for the global strategy of the group. Bill Biedenharn, president of CSG, will assist with this transition prior to his retirement later this year.

"CSG is a core component of our global packaging platform because of its broad product and service offerings and geographic footprint," said John A. Luke, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer. "We are confident that the new CSG leadership team will accelerate our plans to improve the profitability of this important business and enhance our ability to serve and grow with our customers worldwide."

CSG combines MeadWestvaco's packaging systems and consumer packaging groups, bringing together the company's wide range of consumer packaging capabilities into one business.
