Aracruz profit jumps on record pulp sales
Jan. 10, 2007 - Brazilian pulp-maker Aracruz reported its fourth-quarter profit jumped 65 percent on rising pulp prices and record sales volumes, according to Reuters.
Net income climbed to 291.9 million reais ($135.4 million), or 28 centavos a share, from 177.2 million reais, or 17 centavos a share, a year earlier, Aracruz said in a filing to Brazil's securities regulator.
Sales rose 9 percent to 984.5 million reais.
Aracruz, who makes bleached eucalyptus pulp, sold a record 806,000 tonnes between October and December, up 4 percent from the same period in 2005.
