Corenso to Spend $35 Million to Upgrade Board Machine in Wisconsin

Dec. 21, 2006 - Corenso, a subsidiary of Stora Enso, will spend $35 million (EUR 27 million) to rebuild and restart PM 12 for coreboard production at the company's Wisconsin Rapids Mill.

The project will include an upgrade of the mill's recycled fiber facility.

With the upgrade to PM 12, a board machine (BM 13), which currently produces coreboard, will be shut down.

After the rebuild, production capacity for PM 12 will increase from 36,000 tons per year to 85,000 tpy, Corenso said.

The project is scheduled to start in May 2007 and the company expects start-up during the first quarter of 2008.
