Potlatch Elects Covey as Chairman, Siegel to Retire

Dec. 5, 2006 - Potlatch yesterday elected Michael J. Covey, 49, current president and CEO, to the position of Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2007.

Covey will succeed L. Pendleton Siegel, 64, who will retire as chairman and from the Board of Directors, effective December 31, 2006. Siegel also served as the company's chairman and CEO from 1999 to February 2006, and is chairman until the end of this year.

Covey joined Potlatch in February 2006 when he was elected president and CEO and a member of the Board. Prior to that, he spent 23 years with Plum Creek Timber Company.In his new role he will serve as chairman, president and CEO. .
