UPM to Invest EUR 38 Million on PM Project in Finland

Dec. 1, 2006 - UPM said that it will invest EUR 38 million in a modernization project at the company's Jämsänkoski mill in Finland.

PM 4, which currently produces coated magazine paper, will be modified during the second quarter of 2007 to produce label papers, UPM said.

PM 4's grade change will allow the mill to focus its mechanical pulp production on uncoated magazine paper and ultimately improve quality, UPM added.

The Jämsänkoski mill has an annual capacity of 870,000 tons and produces magazine and label papers on four production lines. The mill employs about 800 people.
