Abitibi's Fort William Mill to Take Capacity Downtime
Nov. 8, 2006 - Abitibi-Consolidated's Fort William paper mill in Thunder Bay, Ontario is scheduled to be idled for two weeks, starting November 19.
According to a story in the Thunder Bay Source, workers at the mill were told the downtime is the result of slow orders.
The Fort William mill has an annual capacity of 149,000 metris tons of uncoated groundwood specialty papers and about 130,000 mtpy of pulp. The mill operates one paper machine.
About 250 workers at the mill, along with 100 woodlands employees, will be affected by the shutdown.
The tentative start-up date set for is December 3, the story in the Thunder Bay Source said.
