Oct. 20, 2006 - Metso Paper said that it will supply a linerboard machine to Zhejiang JiAn Paper Packet Co., Ltd. in Haiyan, Zhejiang province of China.

The value of the deal was not disclosed, but Metso said the typical value of a similar board machine order is close to EUR 40 million.

The new machine, designated PM 1, is a three-ply linerboard machine that will have a wire width of 7,250 mm and a design speed of 1,100 m/min.

According to Metso, the new machine will produce linerboard in a basis weight range of 90-200 g/m2 and have an annual capacity of about 450,000 tonnes.

PM 1 is scheduled to come on-line in 2007, Metso said.

Earlier this year the Haiyan mill, which is located approx. 120 km southwest of Shanghai, started up its first machine, which is a 6-meter-wide, 300,000 ton per year unit that produces industrial packaging paper.

Zhejiang JiAn Paper Packet is a privately owned company that currently employs about 750 people.
