Greif to Shut Zanesville Corrugated Box Plant

Sept. 7, 2006 - Greif, Inc. said that it will discontinue operations at its Zanesville corrugated box plant on Oct. 31, 2006. The plant designs, tests and manufactures corrugated containers for a number of regional customers.

John Tettinger, vice president and general manager of Container and Multiwall Operations, said, “This decision supports our strategy to fully optimize and align assets across the network and better position ourselves to improve customer service capabilities within our target markets.”

Greif did not disclose the company’s plans for the physical facility, but noted that some assets would be redeployed to other locations.

The plant employs 78 people, some of whom may have the opportunity to transfer to other locations, Greif said.
