Sept. 6, 2006 - Kemira Pulp and Paper Chemicals announced it will be increasing prices to its North American paper industry customers, effective October 1, 2006.

Kemira said the price increases are for non-contract customers and contract customers as terms permit.

"We have been actively engaged in a number of successful projects over the past year to control escalating costs for our products due to steep increases in key feed stocks and energy," said Hannu Melarti, president, Kemira Pulp and Paper Chemicals North America.

"However, despite these successes, price adjustments are essential for many of our finished goods to maintain the breadth of our portfolio and our commitment to quality, service, and innovation necessary to support our customers and their ability to compete in the global market place,” he added.
