Tembec, Union Reach Tentative Labor Agreement at Pine Falls Mill
Sept. 1, 2006 - Union negotiators and Tembec came to a tentative labor agreement at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 30), narrowly averting a strike at the company's Pine Falls mill in Manitoba (Canada).
The union said workers are set to vote on the new contract next week.
According to Reuters news report, workers had already set up picket lines for the 8 p.m. strike deadline Wednesday night.
Lead negotiator Gary Talarico said the union will take the new contract to members next week when the bargaining committee will recommend they accept the deal.
