India's Demand for Paper Forecast to Rise

July 10, 2006 - Demand for paper, including printing & writing papers, industrial papers, kraft and MG poster, and newsprint varieties, is growing at about 6 percent in India, Yash Papers Ltd. said in its annual report.

According to Yash Papers, one of the primary demand drivers is India's commitment to education. In addition, a reduction in excise duty on printing, writing and packaging papers from 16 percent to 12 percent, robust GDP growth, increasing export push and the emergence of large modern retail business and convenience stores will also fuel demand.

Yash Papers said that it hopes to emerge as India's largest manufacturer of MG poster paper with an installed capacity of 25,550 tonnes per year.
