Voith Receives Order for Board Machine in Brazil

May 16, 2006 - Voith Paper said that Brazilian paper producer Klabin has placed an order for a new production line for board grades, including Liquid Packaging Board (LPB), Carrier Board and Folding Boxboard, which will be installed in the Klabin Monte Alegre mill in TelÍmaco Borba, ParanŠ, Brazil.

According to Voith, this is the first project worldwide to focus on BM equipment mainly designed for producing LPB, a grade used for packaging liquids, such as milk and juices. With a wire width of 7,300 mm and a design speed of 1,000 m/min, the new machine will produce high-grade boards in a basis weight range of 170 - 390 g/m.

The contract, which is one of the largest agreements ever signed by Voith Brazil, is carried out in accordance to the Process Line Package (PLP), Voith said.

The production line order includes the stock preparation system, approach flow system, board machine, winder, roll transport and wrapping systems, ancillary equipment, electrical equipment as well as installation and start-up.

Start-up is scheduled for September 2007.

Klabin is the largest paper and board manufacturer and exporter in Brazil. The company is the leader in production of packaging paper and board, corrugated boxes and industrial sacks.
