AF&PA's 129th Annual Paper Week Registration is Now Available

Pulp and Paper Industry's Premier Event Will Address Key Industry Issues

Feb. 6, 2006 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is pleased to announce that online registration for AF&PA's 129th Annual Paper Week is now available at www.paperweek.org.

Paper Week is the premier pulp and paper industry event, attracting more than 1,000 industry professionals from around the globe, and featuring informative sessions that address the industry's most important issues. Early registrants can take advantage of discounted rates until March 3, 2006.

Paper Week 2006 programming highlights include:

Annual Paper Week Luncheon: Ed Gillespie, former Chairman of the Republican National Committee, and Terry McAuliffe, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will draw on the similarities and differences of their political experiences while discussing the nation's current political climate.

Pulp and Paper General Session: The Future of Paper-Based Communication - The View From the Stakeholders. Industry stakeholders will offer their views on innovations that will enable the industry to maintain a viable role in the dynamic world of advertising and communications.

Packaging General Session: Fiber-Based Packaging Trends - Meeting Expectations and Delivering the Goods. Packaging decision makers will discuss opportunities and challenges in meeting a host of fiber-based packaging needs.

Recycling General Session: Worldwide and Curbside Recycling - Drivers to the 55 Percent Goal. Participants will explore current recovered fiber trends at the global and local levels for recovered fiber and discuss industry efforts to reach the 55 percent recovery goal by 2012. Additionally, the 2006 AF&PA Recycling Awards will recognize outstanding individual, business, community and school recycling efforts.

Seminar: Understanding Forest Certification. Top executives from the two leading certification standards, the Sustainable Forestry InitiativeŽ (SFI) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), will engage in an interactive discussion addressing the attributes of both certification programs.

AF&PA's 129th Annual Paper Week will be held April 9-12, 2006, at The Waldorf=Astoria Hotel in New York City. Paper Week is the premier annual event for the U.S. pulp, paper, and packaging industry, attracting more than 1,000 participants from all segments of the business, including domestic and foreign companies, producers, customers, suppliers, media, business strategists, industry experts, and leading financial analysts.

AF&PA is the national trade association of the forest, paper and wood products industry. AF&PA represents more than 200 companies and related associations that engage in or represent the manufacture of pulp, paper, paperboard and wood products. The forest products industry accounts for approximately 7 percent of total U.S. manufacturing output, employs 1.5 million people, and ranks among the top 10 manufacturing employers in 42 states.
