Baileyville Mill Workers Back On the Job

Jan. 6, 2006 - One hundred employees at Domtar's pulp and paper mill in Baileyville, Maine went back to work this week after the company temporarily idled a paper machine and a sheeter at the mill.just before Christmas.

Domtar spokesman Scott Beal told the Bangor Daily News that the company's paper machine and sheeter operation were back up and running on Tuesday.

"Everyone is back. This is consistent with what we said would happen," Beal said. "We're glad to have everyone back."

In mid-November, mill officials announced that the mill's paper machine and sheeter operation would be temporarily shut down during the latter half of December. The sheeter was scheduled for 16 days of down time, the paper machine, 13 days.

The market pulp product at the company's facility was not affected by the shutdown.
